Your conversation went well if your goal was to get a date, not a hookup. You said you want to meet her up on a visit, so she (rightfully) thought you just want to hook up, and either that's not what she's looking for, or you didn't frame yourself as a hookup. It would've helped if you sexualized the conversation early on.
