You were doing well in the first half of the conversation. I liked the deep question early on, she responded well by sending back a giant text. And it was the right move to respond to her answer.
However, your response was too technical and just nitpicked a minor point. You should've made an observation about what her answer tells about her that she'd find surprising. For example, you could've said, "You mention death pretty often in a question about life :)".
Your last message is boring and not open-ended. If you continued the engaging conversation you started out with, you could've asked her out on a date at that point instead.
